back to the pet peeves blog...I need to add one that I can't believe I forgot. I can't stand when people are late. If you say you'll be somewhere at 6:00pm and you have begged me to make sure we meet at that time, then be there. Not at 7:00pm. And people wonder why I get so upset, but it's about respect. And you must not respect me if you are late. Now, I understand being late once in a blue moon, but every single time we meet up, you are late...or even worse, when we are expected to go somewhere together and you make me look like a late one....ooooh, not good. I think Miss Z will agree with me on this one...she and I are "on-timers" and we both get angry with the late ones (and why do the late ones always get mad at us in return, when it was their fault to begin with??). I had a teacher once say "to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is to be unexceptable."

That quote didn't happen to come from Wilbur, did it??? :) In all seriousness, I'm of the same school of thought. I even try to get places early because it infuriates me to be late myself and I get irate if people are late as well.

I agree that being late is uncool. But what if the event you're late for (or completely missed) turned out to be horrible and you missed nothing? Might the person that made you late actually have done you a favor?

I'm just sayin'.

I agree 100%! My father was always early and as a child, this kinda bugged me - being early for parties, etc. But, once I started being responsible for being where I was supposed to be when I was supposed to be there, I understand the need to allow time for emergencies, traffic, etc. I, too, and always early. If I am too early, I just wait in the car and read a book, or go into the restaurant and people watch, or go in a nearby store and browse for a few minutes. To me, early is ALWAYS better than late, and on time is just ok.

Matt - nope, wasnt Wilbur, it was my high school band director.

Paralawyer - if I missed something that was horrible or uneventful, then yes, maybe this person did me a favor. But that's after the fact, and it still doenst justify being tardy.

Jean - I always have a magazine or book in my purse that allows me to do the same thing....read while waiting. I love people watching too.

thanks for all of your comments :)

How about people that talk with their mouth full of partially chewed food? You can't half way understand what they're saying, and the view is disgusting! And those who, while they're eating, sound like a damn horse crunching on dried corn? Uugghh! It drives me nuts!
