You may already know, but in case you don't - I'm moving to Providence / Boston. After 9 years in this amazing city, I've taken a personal and professional opportunity to move even farther north. My dear Texan friends and family are probably wondering why I like the winters up here - it's true, but I'll always be a Texan at heart. Kinda funny a girl from one of the biggest states is moving to the smallest state. I've been on the island of Manhattan for 9 yrs, I can handle the smallest state. What I will miss is my 24-hour deli.
Over the last few days, I've been trying to figure out how to move the contents of my studio apartment to BobbyG's place (with 3 whole bedrooms!). Do I rent a u-haul one way, do I rent a car and do a few trips, do I hire movers? And then when I do all that, how do I parallel park the car/truck on the NYC street in order to pack up my stuff? and how do I get the contents of my apartment down 3 flights of stairs w/o breaking my neck?
Well - the decision has been made. I rented a Van (down by the river) that I'll pick up in Providence where I'll be in 2 weeks anyway, drive to NYC, have my mom help (I mean supervise and talk the ticket-bitch out of a fine), hire some friends/hungry actors to move my crap downstairs and then be on my merry way. I need some good music to drive me out of the city - what are you suggestions?? I'm thinking Ryan Adams "New York, NY" and Billy Joel "New York State of Mind".....I'd love our suggestions.
