Our office is going on an end of summer group outing today, so I won't be able to post to my blog till much later.
But I wanted to ask you all a question - how are you going to help aid the Katrina aftermath? I can't get my mind off of this tragedy, and I hope you will all help out (donate money, clothes, your time). I am urging our office to help out too, as one of the communities our office works in is New Orleans. Right now, people are most concerned with finding loved ones and getting out of the area, but don't forget about the next few months and possibly the next year or more. That's when we all tend to forget about those displaced. The Tsunami victims are far from most of our minds and they still need help. My office is involved with 22 public elementary and middle schools in New Orleans - remember that these kids (all of the ones we work with are from low income families) are supposed to be going back to school this month. Now, no school exists...nor do most of them have homes. If nothing else, remember the kids affected by this and do whatever you can. I was watching TV the other day and saw someone say that no matter how bad you think it is for yourself, you can always give more. That's paraphrasing a great quote, but it is an important thing to remember.

You are right - everyone should help however they can. I know that right now the Red Cross is asking for monetary donations only and later on may be asking for clothing, blankets, diapers, etc. If everyone could give just a little it would help. Money is tight for everyone, but we all have an extra ten or twenty dollars to help those poor people.
Having gone through a couple of Tropical Storms and Hurricans of much less severity, I still know how awful it is to see your homes, communities and cities devastated by storms. I can only imagine how awful it is in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Thanks for the reminder to think of those less fortunate than ourselves.
I love you, kiddo!
I agree. Having been through hurricane Isabelle a couple years ago (a category 1), I can sympathize with the victims of Katrina. Granted, Izzy wasn't as lethal, but being without power, phones, and the rest of my utilities for a month with flooding in coastal areas of 3-5 feet wasn't fun. I can only image what the victims down south are going through and agree that we should help in any way that we can.
