Are you bored? Would you like a computer program to waste some time away? Check out http://earth.google.com/ And download the free program (as long as you have a PC, not a Mac). This program allows you to look up addresses from satellite view...you can also find the surrounding coffee houses, grocery stores, bars, postal codes, schools, gas stations, parks, hospitals...and much much more. You can also find out populations and crime stats. This program is addictive (thanks Tino!).
But it's also very useful for my work, believe it or not. The only problem, it's not as up to date as I would like. I was looking up bars and clubs in the meat packing district of Manhattan and they showed Pastis, but that it was one building as part of an empty lot. And I've been here 6 yrs and there's always been buildings surrounding that restaurant.
As my dad said: "You know, I think it was really nice of them to make it easier for Al Qaeda to do surveillance. Hey, now they can just sit in their internet cafe (or cave) in South Waziristan and make their plans. Couldn't be easier."

Ah, I know this program and will definitely download it later. MSN used to have TerraServer (which I believe is still around), which was equally addictive in college. And your dad is right. There was a blurb on Dateline or 20/20 or one of those shows saying that Al Qaeda can now get directions to their nearest subway entrance or populous marketplace for their fun-filled agenda of becoming human roman candles!
