Did anyone see "My Name Is Earl" on NBC tonight? I heard all about the reviews, and I wasn't sure it was going to be good, but it was hilarious! It was quick, funny and an overall good idea for a show. My favorite part was where the day-time hooker came out of a house where she was trying to "score" and explained that she tried very hard...she even pulled out her good boob. I dont know, but that made me laugh.

I'm taking a class called Management and Organizational Behavior and our next assignment is to pick a management problem and research it in the news and write a short paper on the issue. I've got a growing list of problems from my own experiences and those in my office, but I'd love to know what you think. Some examples to get you thinking - micromanagement, someone being promoted when they dont have the skills to be in management, glass ceiling....and so on. I will probably poll my blogging audience from time to time...I like to hear from you folks :)

I have a few quotes I'd like to share with you. I've heard the following items or read them in the past week and feel the need to share.

1) "Like, it's really bad at home (Houston)....I picked up this like evacuee and she was like pregnant and all, and she had this cut and like she got gangrene and they like had to amputate her leg...so I was like, mom, like we have to take this girl in and give her a home. Crucial." [yes, she said crucial as sentence]

2) "the most ineffective workers are systematically moved to the place where they can do the least damage - the management."

3) "Managers should lead, not manage"

4) In an evite to get a dollar-drink special at a bar this coming Friday: "in my drunken haze last weekend, I must have told the bartender my name was Randy, instead of Brandon, so ask for Randy when you get to the bar on Friday" (paraphrase)

That's all folks.

Wow...interesting post. In regard to your management issue, I saw a lot on my first day on the job today. The biggest being the blatent falsification of credentials and/or skills when applying for jobs. I mean, being that I'm now an HR specialist, I kinda look at that, you know? See my post I'm about to write for more on that.

One quote I heard recently that I like is this: "You don't want to be considered the best of the best. You want to be the only ones that do what you do." Said by the late, great Jerry Garcia.
