Question for you all: What is the difference between insure and ensure? Seriously, I have seen them both used in the same fashion, so i'm wondering when to use one over the other. Any ideas?
Dictionary.com has the definitions to be exactly the same. Hmmmm?

You know I would have to answer this. By the way, this is only my opinion (for what it's worth). I use them differently when I'm writing stuff on my job.
Insure is what insurance companies do. The write policies to cover losses.
Ensure is what anyone would do to make "sure" something happens. For example, "the NYPD seeks to ensure that everyone at the event is safe." Or, "Ensure that the students understand this point before moving on to the next topic."
That's how I use them.
Use insure to mean that you’re making arrangements to receive monetary compensation in the event of some sort of damage to person or property. “He is going to insure his car to comply with the law.”
Use ensure to mean that you are attempting to make sure something happens or takes place. “To ensure good communication, enunciate and project your words loudly.”
Thanks anonymous. You are wise. But wherever did you get your name? I'm surprised there isnt a rapper out there with the same name. Would probably be spelled: A'nonimus.
