Last year, I blogged about how I do not like hearing Christmas music before Christmas Eve. This year, I'm going a different route and I would like your input. BobbyG and I were discussing the interest in real vs. fake christmas trees. See, this year, I bought my very first Christmas tree (it's only taken 10 yrs of living away from home to buy one).

I bought a fake one (see above - looks nice ay?). But BobbyG says fake is wrong. I'd love to have a real tree if I didnt have to 1) clean the needles up all the time and 2) if my cat wouldnt eat everything in sight.

So what do you think? Do you buy a real or fake tree for your festivities?

I'd love to have a real one, but I'm with you, too much trouble. Fake all the way, lady!

Gotta say I'm with BobbyG. There's something nice about the real tree.

I've never had a fake tree, and that's a lot of trees let me tell ya. Anyway, one year I suggested that we get a fake one because of all the trouble, mess, etc., but I got shot down immediately. That's okay because for many years I had always been a "real tree fundamentalist." I'm pretty sure it'll be a real tree this year too.

When Jennifer was small and we had 2 cats (one who loved to climb to the top of the tree and who also happened to weigh about 20 pounds, thus toppling the tree over daily), we got a fake one. I hated it. No smell, no needles, no reality. I cannot imagine going back to fake ones. Only real for me!

But, your tree looks really nice and since you are going to be away during Christmas, it is probably the best one for you and Bella. Better safe than sorry! Bella is little, but I bet she could do some damage if she tried!

I'm with Bobbo. Real is the only way to go. Growing up, we always had a real tree. But one year, my parents wanted a fake one. So I demanded a second, real tree. (NOTE: Before Kitch says I'm a hypocrite, the only reason we have a fake one is because it was given to us for free and it's one of the nicest fake trees I'm ever seen.) And btw, the only thing worse than a fake tree is one of those PRE-LIT fake trees! You might as well celebrate Hannakuh if you're going to have one of those in your house.

For maintance and up keep I say go fake. Plus you don't have worry about a fake tree drying out and catching on fire. Also it's reusable so you don't have to spend money on a new tree every year. I think your tree looks beautiful and I can't tell the difference.
Happy Holidays!
:)

I'm a fan of the real trees, but my family's used fake for a long time now. We actually just bought a new 9' pre-lit sucker. I did learn one thing this year - NEVER BUY PRE-LIT!!! Imagine how one bulb going out on a strand making the rest of the strand go out on a larger scale...

REAL v FAKE

Real trees are unique like the snowflakes falling outside on a cold Christmas Eve night.

Fake trees just sit there and be fake.

Real trees help you connect with your childhood Christmas memories with their evergreen sappy smells.

Fake trees just get all tangled up in the Walmart box year after year.

Santa is real.

Fake trees are not real.

AND as for being feline friendly... Be REAL! When is the last time you saw a Firefighter rescue a cat from a FAKE tree?

REAL is really the only way to go.
