Hello from Texas. I've taken off work and I'm visiting family in Austin. I've been watching CNN off and on all week and it's emotionally draining. So much that I cant even blog about it...all I keep saying is donate to the Red Cross and do whatever you can to help out.

Moving on....

Here's a story I've been meaning to tell you. Another NYC Story. I was in Au Bon Pain getting some soup last Sunday and I saw an interesting scene. I was behind a woman at the register and she looked and sounded very angry. I scoot in closer to hear her yelling "SILVERWEAR!!! Where can I find silverwear?" The woman behind the register looked at her with that I-hate-my-job-hurry-up-and-end-the-day-so-I-can-go-home look, but said nothing to the woman. The woman didnt respond very well to that. She yells three times "SILVERWEAR, SILVERWEAR, SILVERWEAR" Then she pointed down to her soup and said "This is food, I need to eat it with something...like silverwear, where is it." Finally the woman looks at her very slowly and says "forks and spoons are behind you." I found this funny...the customer could have just asked where the forks and knives were, but insisted on continuing to yell silverwear. And the register woman obviously hadnt heard that word before or was maybe amused by this irate woman. And meanwhile, I was so hungry, I couldnt even speak up to say where the forks were. Instead, I think "wow, this is good blog material."

I've been in Austin for a day now and I've heard all the scuttlebutt about my extended group of freinds. And I have heard stories of people I know who are married with kids and all the horrible things they are doing. Like yelling at their kids, grabbing them till they cry and generally treating their kids like shit (fyi, these abusers are not close personal friends). Hearing all about that and then people going thru divorce, it's just sad. It makes me thankful for my sanity, my family, my job and my boyfriend.

With that, I'm going to watch MTV's Laguna Beach because it's times like these I need some good crap TV :)
